Gysgt. JOHN BASILONE AND THE BEER

Before he became a legend, John “Johnny B.” Basilone was a Marine standing his ground on a dark, violent night in the jungles of Guadalcanal.

With his gun crews shattered and the enemy pressing hard, Basilone kept the machine guns firing. He moved through exposed positions, repaired weapons under fire, carried ammunition where it was needed, and fought with the kind of ferocity that would earn him the Medal of Honor. When America offered him safety and celebrity, he chose instead to return to his Marines. On Iwo Jima, he again led from the front—and gave his life doing it.

Basilone Beer was created to carry that story forward.

This isn’t about placing a famous name on a can. It is about honoring the standard Johnny B. set: courage when it mattered, loyalty to the Marines beside him, and an unwavering willingness to serve something greater than himself.

Proudly brewed in Northern Nevada by Battle Born Beer, Basilone Beer brings together Battle Born Beer, the Basilone Memorial Foundation, and Task Force Garrison in a first-of-its-kind tribute to a Medal of Honor recipient. Proceeds support the Basilone Memorial Foundation and Task Force Garrison as they continue serving veterans, Marines, and their families—and ensuring that the legacy of men like John Basilone is never reduced to a paragraph in a history book.

This beer is for Marines. It is for veterans. It is for the families who carried the weight at home. And it is for every American who still believes that courage, sacrifice, and duty mean something.

Drink it cold. Raise it with purpose. Remember the man.

FROM THE FEW. FOR THE MANY.

About BASILONE MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

Our Mission

The Basilone Memorial Foundation is a non-profit organization operated exclusively for charitable purposes and dedicated to honoring the life, service, and enduring legacy of Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone.

Born and raised in his hometown of Raritan, New Jersey, John Basilone became one of the most celebrated United States Marines of World War II. His extraordinary courage, selflessness, and dedication to his fellow Marines and his country continue to inspire generations. The Basilone Memorial Foundation is proud to carry on his name and legacy by turning that spirit of service into action within our community.

Our mission is to raise funds and provide support that helps ensure a better quality of life for United States military veterans and their families, as well as individuals and families impacted by cancer. Through charitable programs, fundraising efforts, and community events, we strive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who have sacrificed, served, and faced difficult challenges.

In honoring Gunnery Sgt. John Basilone, we believe that his legacy is not only remembered through history, but kept alive through service to others. The Basilone Memorial Foundation is committed to continuing that legacy of courage, compassion, and sacrifice by giving back to the veterans, families, and communities we are proud to serve.

About BATTLE BORN BEER

WHO WE ARE

Battle Born Beer is fiercely independent, proudly Nevadan, and built on the belief that good beer doesn’t need to be complicated—it just needs to be damn good. Independently brewed and packaged at its state-of-the-art brewery in the heart of Reno, Battle Born combines true craft quality with the clean, approachable character of a classic American lager.

That independent spirit made Battle Born the right brewery to help bring Basilone Beer to life. This is more than another beer with a military name stamped on the can. It is a purpose-built tribute to Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone—brewed with respect for his courage, sacrifice, and place in Marine Corps history. Through this collaboration with the Basilone Memorial Foundation and Task Force Garrison, Battle Born Beer is helping turn every can into an opportunity to remember one of America’s greatest heroes while directly supporting the veterans and families carrying that legacy forward.

Proudly brewed in Northern Nevada. Built with purpose. Worthy of the name.

THE JOHN BASILONE PARADE

THE PARADE

The John Basilone Memorial Parade is more than a hometown tradition—it is a living tribute to one of America’s most legendary Marines.

On September 19, 1943, approximately 30,000 people filled the streets of Raritan, New Jersey, to welcome Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone home after his heroic stand on Guadalcanal and receipt of the Medal of Honor. The celebration raised an extraordinary $1.4 million in war bonds, but Basilone never sought the spotlight. Believing he belonged beside his fellow Marines, he returned to combat and was killed leading Marines during the invasion of Iwo Jima on February 19, 1945.

Raritan formally revived the parade in 1981, and every year the community once again gathers along Somerset Street to honor its hometown hero. Veterans, active-duty service members, military organizations, marching bands and thousands of spectators come together to remember not only John Basilone, but the courage, humility and sacrifice he represented.

The parade ensures that future generations understand who John Basilone was, what he gave and why his example still matters. This is not simply a celebration of history. It is a promise that America will continue to remember its heroes—and the Marines who stood beside them.
